This treatment focusses mainly on controlling the blood sugar so that it is within the normal or target range and also to prevent the effects from getting worse. To keep your blood sugar at the normal target, you can regularly see your doctor, exercise, take the recommended diet and oral diabetes medicine or insulin as required and by regularly checking your blood sugar level.

Oral medications are used to treat painful diabetes neuropathy. However, other types of medications may also some patients. Combination of medications and treatment are used to treat people with severe nerve pain. Some of the medications are not recommended for people with heart disease or those who are old because of the consequent side effects.
